buffalo- asked: I don't really understand that person's logic. Because you're not trans* it automatically means this must be for your own gain? I feel like there were a lot of assumptions in between point A and point B, don't you? Well, anyway, you might be sick of getting these messages so I won't pester you. Just wanted to let you know that I appreciate what you've contributed, as a genderqueer individual and a human rights advocate.
I appreciate your support! I think (and hope) that this is just a misunderstanding. That tumblr user… seems to think I’m exploiting this issue for my own personal profit/gain, which isn’t the case. I chose the topic (from many) because it interested me and I felt that it was a cause that needed more awareness. Also, the project was mandatory, and part of my final grade.
Anonymous asked: I'm kind of confused by your answer "I identify as a pan-sexual/queer female" when you were asked if you are trans. That doesn't really answer the question, does it? Trans people can be pansexual/queer females too, it seems to be erasing trans people's sexual orientations or implying our gender identities aren't as legitimate.
I think maybe you’re reading into my response too much. I did not mean to imply that at all.
nicolejanelle asked: The logic that tumblr user has is totally backwards. What if you were making a pancreatic cancer awareness poster, but because you don't in fact have PC, you're not allowed to raise awareness? What about the rapidly increasing issue of rape, you're not allowed to form an opinion on it because you weren't raped? I don't get it. I thought it was about equality, not getting bitter at the people who want to help fix the gender identity situation
I think that tumblr user was misunderstanding some of the things I was trying to say. I think you’re absolutely right, if it’s positive awareness and getting a message out— that’s great. Of course, it’s always better if it is a firsthand account, but I think anyone can stand behind an issue and fight for it.
kamerondarkwood asked: I loved your piece on gender, I'm sorry other people are assholes.
Its no problem, these things tend to blow over after a little while.
Anonymous asked: hey there! just wanted to tell you how much i love your poster :) i'm trans* so seeing trans* positive representation (especially made by a cis person) is refreshing to see! keep up the good work :D
Thanks! :)
obsessivelygalahad asked: Just had your Trans* pronoun awareness poster come up on my dash and, thank you. The design is perfect, and that is honestly what is feels like to have one pronouns botched constantly. Also, IDK who told you 'Transgender' is incorrect, because as far as I know, it's not. It's more specific than trans*, but not wrong. Again, thank you. --An FtM blogger.
Aww, no, thank you! I’m glad to hear this!
